Roman Colonies and Roman Citizenship wordle explanation paragraph
My wordle incorporates the main points of Roman Colonies and Roman Citizenship. In Roman times, there were many rules about who was/wasn’t a citizen. Citizens had many privileges that non-citizens didn’t. For example, citizens enjoyed the right to vote, the right to make contracts, and the right to contract a legal marriage. Although they had these privileges, there were also a couple of downsides to being a citizen. Men had to complete a 20 year term of military service, and during that time it was illegal to marry or start families. Men also had to pay taxes. There were two types of classes in Ancient Rome; upper class and lower class. The upper class consisted of senatores (men who served in the senate), and equites (men with at least 400,000 sesterces). The lower class consisted of commoners, latin people, foreigners, freed people, and slaves. The colonies in Ancient Rome were first founded in 4th century BC, and first used for defense. Roman colonies evolved and were soon used for agricultural purposes, and had about 300 families living there.
